Joe Keithley

Joe Keithley

Joe Keithley is seeking re-election to a third term on Burnaby City Council. A lifelong Burnaby resident, he has dedicated his life to advancing fairness, inclusion, and opportunity for everyone who calls the city home.

As a young activist, he organized protests in support of environmental protection, women’s rights, and anti-racism. He also used his platform as the leader of the influential Canadian band D.O.A. to raise awareness and inspire action on critical social issues. Deeply committed to community building, Joe founded the award-winning Harmony For All program, which provides free musical instruments and lessons to disadvantaged youth and adults. To date, the program has benefited more than 5,000 Burnaby residents.

During his time on Council, Joe has worked to promote environmental sustainability and to strengthen community well-being. As Chair of Burnaby’s Environmental Committee for the past seven years, he has helped lead local efforts to combat climate change. Joe has also been a strong voice for housing affordability. As a key member of the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing, he has worked to increase the supply of affordable housing and rental units. As he often says, “Housing should be a right, not a privilege.”

Joe’s lifelong motto is simple: “Talk minus action equals zero.” He is committed to getting results and delivering real, positive change for Burnaby.
